How to Deal with Internet ISP Problems

No matter how carefully you select your Internet ISP, problems can happen. Whether it is a miscalculated bill, lack of service, or something more serious, it is important that you learn to deal with your Internet ISP effectively to get the results you want. When it comes to resolving an issue with your Internet ISP:1) Refuse to play phone tag. Many Internet ISP companies are large companies. This can mean long wait times on voice mail systems. It can also mean that your complaint gets lost or gets endlessly shuffled from department to department. Refuse to do this by not allowing yourself to be shuffled from caller to caller. Insist that one person in charge deal with your complaint. If that person wishes to transfer you, ask that they call the department they wish to transfer you to and find out the information they need to help you themselves.2) Talk to someone in technical support or in management, depending on the nature of the problem. Don't let this happen. Find out from the first person you talk to at your Internet ISP who you should be talking to and then deal with that person only. This can make it more likely that someone will work consistently to resolve your problem.3) Make a face to face appointment. If you have a hard time resolving an issue over the phone, ask to meet an Internet ISP representative in an interview to resolve the problem.4) Find out the details of the problem resolution system at the Internet ISP company. That way, you will know the steps you need to take to resolve the problem. 5) Find out who has jurisdiction over your Internet ISP service. If your Internet ISP service is not able or willing to help you, contact the body who settles disputes about them.6) Be clear about what you want. Write a letter to your Internet ISP noting the problem, the steps you have taken to resolve it and when you wish for a resolution. 7) Keep things in writing and jot down details of the problem. Always write down who you spoke with at your Internet ISP and the results of the call. Where possible send letters, emails, and faxes (and keep copies) to create a paper trail.
